Blake Snell Signs Two-Year Deal with San Francisco Giants
Details of the Contract
Left-hander Blake Snell and the San Francisco Giants have agreed to a two-year contract worth $62 million. The deal includes an opt-out clause after the first year.
Snell's Stellar 2023 Season
Snell had a successful 2023 season with the San Diego Padres, posting a 3.38 ERA and 12.8 strikeouts per nine innings. He was named an All-Star and finished seventh in the NL Cy Young Award voting.
Giants' Rotation Boost
The Giants are hoping Snell will bolster their starting rotation, which struggled last season. President of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi said, "We've talked all offseason about adding to the top of our rotation, and we're thrilled to have Blake Snell join our team."
Upcoming Debut
Snell is expected to make his Giants debut on April 1, 2024, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
