Fourth Olympic Gymnast Takes the Mirrorball Trophy

Hernandez and Partner Val Chmerkovskiy Crowned Champions

Laurie Hernandez has become the fourth Olympic gymnast to win "Dancing With the Stars." The 17-year-old gymnast and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, were crowned the winners of Season 23 on Tuesday night.

Hernandez, who won a gold and silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, is the youngest person to ever win the show. She joins a list of Olympic gymnasts who have won the competition, including Shawn Johnson, who won Season 8, and Aly Raisman, who won Season 16.

Hernandez and Chmerkovskiy consistently impressed the judges and viewers with their high-energy performances. They received perfect scores for their freestyle dance and their jazz dance in the finale.

"I'm so proud of Laurie," Chmerkovskiy said after the win. "She's such a talented dancer and she worked so hard. I'm so glad we were able to share this experience together."
