Early Career

Nerlens Noel was born on April 10, 1994, in Malden, Massachusetts. He attended Tilton School in Tilton, New Hampshire, where he played basketball and was named a McDonald's All-American. Noel then played one season of college basketball at the University of Kentucky, where he was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

NBA Career

Noel was selected sixth overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2013 NBA draft. He was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on February 19, 2014, in a three-team deal that also involved the Oklahoma City Thunder. Noel played three seasons with the 76ers, averaging 8.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on February 8, 2017, in a deal that sent Justin Anderson and Andrew Bogut to Philadelphia. Noel played one season with the Mavericks, averaging 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game. He was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 10, 2018, in a deal that sent Dennis Schröder to Dallas. Noel played one season with the Thunder, averaging 5.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets on February 6, 2020, in a three-team deal that also involved the Detroit Pistons.
